Leave health to the doctors

The old doc wonders why the government is practicing medicine. There is no room in the health care tent for politics.

There is no doubt in my mind that abortion -especially after 20 weeks, is an undesirable procedure (to say the least). The late term procedure are-thankfully-extremely uncommon. The prohibition of this procedure-championed by the religious right, is-in my opinion, interfering with the practice of medicine. The decision for ANY procedure-odious or not- should be reserved for the doctor and his/her patient. What will the government prohibit next, appendectomy???

The prime example of the government practicing medicine came with the Terry Schiavo case.

In a future blog, I will talk about the government in our bedrooms.
